John Kim, M.D. - Chicago Plastic Surgeon

kimJohn YS Kim, MD is a Board-Certified Plastic Surgeon and a faculty member at Northwestern Medical Faculty Foundation.

He is a magna cum laude graduate of Harvard College, and received his Doctor of Medicine and Master of Arts in English degrees from Stanford University. Dr. Kim was also a three year Howard Hughes Medical Institute Fellow.

He completed an integrated Plastic Surgery residency in the Michael E. Debakey Department of Surgery at Baylor College of Medicine and went on to do advanced fellowship training at the University of California Los Angeles.

Dr. Kim performs the full spectrum of aesthetic and reconstructive surgery including: cosmetic and reconstructive breast surgery, body contouring surgery after massive weight loss, hand, microvascular, and peripheral nerve surgery, facial rejuvenation surgery and office procedures (restylane, botox, dermabrasion, liposuction, mini-facelifts).

Dr. Kim’s work and expertise has been featured on television, radio, newspaper, and the internet including ABC, Chicago Sun-Times, and emedicine.com. He has published widely in specialty journals and textbooks and holds international patents on novel medical device inventions. Dr. Kim also serves on several national committees for the American Society of Plastic Surgeons. A lifelong devotee to the arts, Dr. Kim’s practice philosophy is to elegantly and judiciously integrate an artist’s vision with fine technical precision.
